The Cultural Foundation hosts a variety of exciting experiences.
Visitors can enjoy an immersive experience that reveals hidden stories of Abu Dhabi's past in the Anatomy of a Photograph: Iconic Images of Abu Dhabi Exhibition. They can explore Abu Dhabi's cultural heritage through National Archives in Archives & Memories: Capturing the Nation’s Story. In Recollections of the Cultural Foundation, visitors can discover personal memories of the UAE's past from fellow festivalgoers and be inspired to record their own.
There are also opportunities to take part in fun, interactive workshops for both children and adults of all abilities, watch a show in the outdoor Amphitheatre and learn about traditional Emirati coffee making in the Gahwa.
Archives and Memories: Capturing the Nation’s Story
Abu Dhabi is fortunate to have extensive archives that celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Emirate. These collections are the nation’s memory.
This exhibition showcases highlights from Abu Dhabi’s key collections including National Archives, Abu Dhabi Media, Crown Prince’s Court, ADNOC - ADCO and Baynounah TV.
It explores photography, newspapers and film, and uncovers how each medium records events and preserves memories in a different way.
Anatomy of a Photograph: Iconic Images from the Past
A dramatic and immersive experience that deconstructs five iconic photographs of Abu Dhabi to reveal hidden narratives and decipher what the echoes of the past can teach us today.
Recollections of the Cultural Foundation
Visitors can explore the Cultural Foundation through the recollections of fellow festivalgoers; their first experiences, their hopes and aspirations. They can learn about the cultural and historical significance of this iconic building and how it became a symbol of both the city and the people. The memories of others seek to inspire visitors to contribute their own recollection.
Amphitheatre
In this open-air theatre attached to the Cultural Foundation visitors will find a space where they can reflect and relax, as well as absorb the cultural experiences on offer.
Memory of Emirati Song (8.00pm)
Visitors can enjoy live performances that revive the memory of traditional Emirati folk songs.
