Visitors can explore the desert and learn about the origins of Emirati culture through storytelling and demonstrations. In this area they can experience the food, craft and animals that helped people to survive in such a harsh environment.

Emirati Coffee & Rababa

Visitors will be offered Arabic coffee made by experts, learn how it’s made and enjoy some dates as they listen to Rababa music around the campfire.

Ghazel

Visitors can learn how to make threads out of animal wool.

Butter Making

Visitors can observe and understand the tradition of shaking yoghurt into butter.

Al Sadu

Visitors can learn about this UNESCO heritage practice and its importance in Bedouin life. They can see how the weaved fabric was used to make camel and horse saddles and tents.

Storytelling

Visitors can listen to traditional stories told in a theatrical and engaging way and see children participating by using props and costumes.

Traditional Food

Visitors can see Emirati women cooking different Bedouin dishes and sample them, including Qurs, Chami, Legaymat, Rigag, Nakhai, Bajila and Chebab.

Falconry

Visitors can handle and learn about these birds and their importance in Emirati tradition. They can also enjoy an exhibition from the Falcon hospital and learn about the late Sheikh Zayed Release Programme.

Al Yola

Visitors can watch a group of young Emirati experts demonstrating and teaching the art of this traditional dance.

Photo Spot

This is an opportunity for visitors to take photos wearing traditional clothes and using props, with the festival site as a backdrop.

Tuwi

Visitors can learn how to find a point of water, dig, build a well and collect and transport the water.

Camel Rides

Visitors can ride a camel through the desert area.

Houbara

Visitors can learn about these birds and their habitat, as well as the UAE International Fund for Houbara Conservation, which is helping to save the bird from extinction.

Petting Zoo

Camels: Visitors can see how camels are milked, try it themselves and sample the milk.

Salukis: Visitors can learn how Bedouins used to train Saluki dogs for hunting.

Goats: Visitors can learn how this animal was used traditionally – from dairy to meat to wool.

Horses: Visitors can pet and learn about how these animals are taken care of by traditional horsemen.

Camel Caravan

Visitors can witness a camel caravan demonstrating travelling
commerce – visiting souks and delivering goods to the merchants.
